Curious about Fire Cupping?
Fire cupping is an ancient, healing, therapeutic practice rooted in Traditional Chinese medicine and used in many healing traditions around the world. During the treatment, glass cups are briefly heated with fire to create a gentle vacuum seal when placed on the skin. This suction helps draw blood flow to the surface, promoting circulation, releasing tension, and supporting the body’s natural healing process.
Cups may be left in place for several minutes or moved around. After the treatment, it is normal to see temporary circular marks. They are not bruises but a result of increased blood flow to the area. The color and intensity of the marks often reflect the level of stagnation in the tissues that typically fade within a few days.
Many people find fire cupping relaxing and beneficial for relieving muscle tension, easing pain, improving range of motion and reducing stress.
After the treatment, stay hydrated, rest and if possible, avoid strenuous activity for the remainder of the day. Think of this as part of your self-care. Give yourself permission to receive and allow your body time to rest. It is common to feel some soreness after fire cupping, similar to what you might feel after a deep tissue massage, so be gentle with yourself and move slowly.
Contraindications:
Fire cupping may not be appropriate for individuals who are pregnant, have certain skin conditions, blood disorders or take blood-thinning medications.
Fire cupping is available as an additional service during your treatment.
Fire cupping not for you? Silicone cupping is a great alternative that offers similar benefits which is a gentler, non-heat option.
